27th MAY: Nsit Ubium Council Chairman Hon. Alfred Charles Celebrates with Children

The Chairman of Nsit Ubium Local Government Council, Hon. Alfred Charles, joined children across the area in celebrating the 2025 Children’s Day.

The event, held at Ikot Edibon, featured the reading of the Governor’s address, during which Hon. Charles reaffirmed Akwa Ibom State Government’s commitment to nurturing its young population through targeted investments in education, skills development, and child welfare.

He emphasized that Children’s Day in Akwa Ibom is not just an annual ritual but a reaffirmation of the State Government’s dedication—under the leadership of the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno—to securing a brighter future for children through the Arise Agenda.

He encouraged the children to take their education seriously, noting that the recently instituted Nsit Ubium Education Trust Fund is designed to support bright and brilliant students. He also hinted at other forthcoming initiatives aimed at transforming the education sector within the local government area.

The celebration featured a vibrant march past by participating schools, with awards presented to the best performing schools in each category:

Primary School Category

  • 1st Place: St. John Primary School, Ikot Ekpene Udo
  • 2nd Place: Government School, Ikot Akpabin
  • 3rd Place: Central School, Ndiya

Secondary School Category

  • 1st Place: Adiahaobong Girls Secondary School, Ikot Imo
  • 2nd Place: Well’s International Secondary School, Ikot Inyang Eti
  • 3rd Place: Daniel Joseph Academy, Ikot Akan

Nursery School Category

  • 1st Place: NUTECH School, Ikot Eyo
  • 2nd Place: Uncle Effiong International Nursery/Primary School, Ntitoton
  • 3rd Place: Goodnews International Nursery/Primary School, Ndiya

A total of 99 schools participated in the 2025 Children’s Day celebration:

  • Nursery Schools: 41
  • Primary Schools: 38
  • Secondary Schools: 20
