GOV ENO OPENS NEW HEALTH FACILITY IN NSIT UBIUM …INSISTS 1000 NEW HEALTH WORKERS’ RECRUITMENT STRICTLY ON MERIT, PORTAL

Governor Umo Eno has assured that the Akwa Ibom State government will recruit 1000 medical workers based on merit, with the process strictly conducted through the state’s employment portal. He emphasized that the recruitment will be open to qualified individuals, regardless of their political affiliation.

The governor made this statement while inaugurating the Model Health Centre at Ikot Ekwere, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area. He also announced plans to train medical personnel for an international hospital project, which is expected to commence soon.

Governor Eno urged local government chairmen to partner with his administration to replicate similar projects in their areas. He expressed his administration’s commitment to providing jobs for young people and supporting local industries, such as Ibom Paints.

The governor thanked the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ekem Emmanuel John, for his passion and dedication to the health sector. He also appreciated criticism and encouraged citizens to provide solutions-oriented feedback.

The Model Health Centre, described as a “holistic healthcare hub,” features maternal and child health units, minor procedure rooms, emergency response infrastructure, and modern equipment. The facility is expected to improve healthcare delivery in the state.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ekem Emmanuel John, praised the governor’s vision and involvement in creating the healthcare facility. The President of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, Dr. Tope Osundare-Zenith, commended the governor’s impactful projects and progressive leadership.

Other dignitaries, including Barr. Onofiok Luke and Senator Effiong Bob, praised the governor’s leadership and human-centered development initiatives. The Managing Director of Nsik Engineering, Elder Nsikan Johnny, highlighted the facility’s world-class standards and announced that the company would provide health insurance coverage for the first 500 patients treated at the centre.
