Suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara has publicly thanked President Bola Tinubu for his prompt intervention, which he credited with averting further chaos in Rivers State amidst the ongoing political crisis.
Speaking at a meeting with leaders and stakeholders of the Simplified Movement—part of events marking his two years in office—in Port Harcourt on Thursday, Governor Fubara acknowledged the crucial role played by Mr. President.
“We are already in the peace process. I want to thank Mr. President for his timely intervention to salvage the situation, stabilize the polity, and secure the state. If not for Mr. President, the story today would have been different,” Fubara stated.
He revealed that, following the President’s intervention, several reconciliatory meetings have taken place, including some at the residence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory—Chief Nyesom Wike, who is also his predecessor.
“There is no reason why there will not be peace between myself and my Oga,” Fubara said, referring to Wike. “There will be peace. We are meeting. We will reconcile.”
Governor Fubara’s remarks underscored ongoing efforts to restore harmony and stability in Rivers State, as key stakeholders continue to engage in dialogue.
