ADC-led coalition leaders can’t stop Tinubu – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed the chances of opposition politicians to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election. Speaking on Channels Television’s Special Politics Today programme, Wike described the opposition leaders as lightweights with no real influence in their constituencies.

Wike questioned the political and electoral value of the coalition leaders who have adopted the African Democratic Congress, specifically targeting former Senate President, David Mark, who is currently serving as Interim National Chairman of the ADC. He noted that Mark’s daughter won her local constituency under the APC, while Mark himself couldn’t win for the PDP, suggesting that either Mark has been playing the PDP for long or he’s not on the ground.

The FCT minister also described critics of Tinubu’s administration as hypocrites, accusing them of being responsible for Nigeria’s economic woes. He cited Rotimi Amaechi as an example, noting that Amaechi was a governor, speaker, and minister for a combined 24 years, yet never acknowledged the suffering of Nigerians during his tenure. Wike urged Nigerians to support Tinubu’s administration instead of blaming it for inherited problems, asking who caused the suffering and who is trying to solve the problem now.
