- In a surprise but strategic shift, Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has announced that its highly anticipated National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting will now take place at the Presidential Villa specifically, the Banquet Hall on Thursday, July 24, 2025.
The meeting, which was originally scheduled for the APC national secretariat on Blantyre Street in Wuse II, Abuja, will now kick off at 2:00 PM. According to the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the change in location is tied to “logistical reasons,” though many see the move as a signal of the meeting’s growing importance.
This NEC session isn’t just another gathering. It comes at a pivotal time for the party, following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje as National Chairman last month. His departure, reportedly due to health concerns, has left a vacuum at the top and Thursday’s meeting could set the he stage for what’s next.
Currently, Ali Bukar Dalori is serving as Acting Chairman, and there’s speculation that he might continue in that capacity until a formal convention is held to elect new leadership.
But leadership decisions won’t be the only items on the agenda.
The NEC is also expected to dive into:
• Updates on the Renewed Hope agenda
• Progress reports from the Constitution Review Committee
• The party’s e-registration initiative
• Strategic planning as the APC looks ahead to the 2027 general elections
Preparations are already in full swing at the Banquet Hall, with sources confirming that the venue is being carefully arranged for the high-level gathering.
As the APC gears up to re-align and re-strategize, Thursday’s meeting may not just be a formality—it could shape the future of the party heading into another election cycle.
