Akpabio Returns From London Trip, Quashes Health Speculations.

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio on Monday morning returned to Nigeria after a brief vacation in London, putting an end to widespread speculation about his health status.

Akpabio arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, around 4:00 a.m., where he was warmly received at the Presidential Wing by a retinue of senators, aides, and supporters from across the country.

His return followed weeks of rumors that he had been critically ill and undergoing medical treatment in London.

Before his vacation, Akpabio had attended the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva, Switzerland, which held between July 29 and 31, 2025.

Speaking to journalists on arrival, the Senate President dismissed the speculation as unfounded, reaffirming his readiness for “robust legislative engagements” as the National Assembly resumes.

He emphasized that his participation in the Geneva summit reflected Nigeria’s strong commitment to global parliamentary dialogue, and pledged more collaboration between the Senate and other arms of government to deepen democratic governance in the country.
