OBOT AKARA – Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested two suspected cultists in Ikpe Usung Ita, Obot Akara Local Government Area, recovering firearms, ammunition, and incriminating items from them.
The suspects, identified as Emmanuel Udo Ukut 4, and Marshall Asuquo John (42), were apprehended around 4:00 a.m. on Monday, August 25, 2025, during a targeted operation linked to an ongoing investigation into phone theft.
According to the Command’s Spokesperson, DSP Timfon John a search on the suspects led to the recovery of one single-barrel den gun, three live cartridges, one expanded cartridge, black beret with cult insignia, black hood suspected to be used as a facemask, black belt, three mobile phones (Tecno Spark 30, Vivo Y15s, and an Itel phone), and black nylon bag containing a substance suspected to be gunpowder.
DSP John, who confirmed the arrests said, the suspects are in custody while investigation is ongoing.
