UYO – Akwa Ibom State Government has dismissed as false, social media reports suggesting that Governor Umo Eno promised to pay ₦50,000 monthly stipends to applicants who do not succeed in the ongoing Civil Service recruitment exercise.

In a statement issued yesterday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ekerete Udoh, the government described the claims as “totally misleading,” urging the public to disregard them.

According to the clarification, all applicants who applied through the official Civil Service Employment Portal will be required to undergo a Computer-Based Test (CBT), after which only successful candidates will proceed to the oral interview stage.

He said, at no point, the government stressed, was a stipend for unsuccessful candidates announced or contemplated.

The statement, however, explained that the one-time ₦50,000 support grant available to youths registered on the Arise Employment Portal is separate from the Civil Service recruitment process and should not be mistaken for compensation for failed applicants.

Governor Eno, the release added, remains committed to a fair and transparent recruitment process devoid of favoritism, stressing that “there are no slots allocated to anyone.”

The government also advised members of the public to rely only on official communication channels for verified information.
