Special Adviser to the Senate President, Dr. Jibril Lawal Tafida, has disowned a viral document circulating on social media and purportedly written by him to the Presidency, alleging corruption within the National Assembly and personal grievances against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

The unsigned letter, dated November 22, 2025, claims to detail corrupt practices in the legislature and accuses Senator Akpabio of abandoning Tafida during a bereavement. However, Tafida has firmly dismissed the document as fake and malicious.

In a statement issued the same day and titled “Disclaimer on a Fabricated Document Circulating in My Name,” Tafida stressed that he did not write, author, endorse, or authorise the circulating material, describing it as a calculated attempt to weaponise his identity and malign the Senate leadership.

He warned that the tone, structure, and allegations in the letter revealed an intent to sow discord and smear reputations, noting that the claims collapse under basic scrutiny—particularly the assertion that Akpabio influenced contract awards, despite not being a member of the National Assembly Tenders Board. He further clarified that the National Assembly complex is fully managed by the FCDA through its contractor, Laralex Nigeria Ltd.

Reaffirming his respect for the Senate President, Tafida said their working relationship remains cordial and grounded in mutual trust, with no basis for the sentiments attributed to him in the fake publication.

He urged the public, media organisations, political actors, and online publishers to disregard, delete, and desist from sharing the fabricated document, describing it as an effort to create disaffection where none exists.

Tafida concluded by restating his loyalty to the Office of the Senate President and his commitment to the stability, unity, and progress of the National Assembly.
