A foremost training institution in Akwa-Cross region, Etinan Institute otherwise called “Etinosa” has announced preparations for its forthcoming 110th anniversary celebrations.

The International President, Rev. Effretuei U. Akaduh disclosed this in a statement to the media on Monday expressed joy and pride at the opportunity to reconnect with the old students.
He said, the upcoming celebration will reaffirm the long-standing bond between the school and its old students describing the moment as a time to reminisce on shared experiences and renew collective commitment to the growth of the alma mater.
Rev. Effretuei highlighted some pressing concerns affecting the institution to include; dilapidated structures, inadequate facilities, staffing gaps, and dwindling resources threatening the legacy of one of the foremost South South secondary schools.
According to him, “As old students, we have a responsibility to give back and support the school’s development.
This year’s celebration, themed “GIVING BACK,” is scheduled for Thursday 18th – Sunday 21st December, 2025 and a major highlight will be the launching of a N50 million fund targeting at rebuilding the school’s historic administrative block.
“This block is an iconic architectural masterpiece among secondary schools in the region”.
The fundraising initiative the statement further stated, will also inspire graduating classes to support projects like the modern libraries, upgraded laboratories, improved sports facilities, enhanced ICT infrastructure, and expanded access to digital learning resources.
The President however, listed done of the interventions undertaken by the body to include; a state-of-the-art legacy gate, delivered by the Class of 1975; solar-powered borehole and the first water cistern in the hostel, provided by the Class of 2006;
Others are; distribution of over 4,000 exercise books by Class of 1996, and several other projects demonstrating the enduring legacy of former students.
Meanwhile, the Old Students’ Association of Etinan Institute has issued the time table covering activities of the body beginning from Thursday, December 18, 2025 to include; Arrival of old students, Novelty football match (Etinan Institute Alumni vs. Apostolic Church Secondary School, Ikot Oku Nsit Alumni) and the Solemn Assembly.
On Friday, December 19, 2025 the Centenary Plus Celebration, Award Presentation and Launching of N50 Million Renovation Fund, Class Hangout and Recreation will take place at the college main bowl.
Saturday, December 20, 2025 Will feature Road Walk around Etinan Town, Annual General Meeting and General Elections and Dinner.
While Sunday, December 21, 2025 is slated for Thanksgiving Service at Qua Iboe Church, Etinan as Governor Umo Eno, Deputy Governor, Akon Eyakenyi, Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Udeme Otong, Chairman of Etinan, Hon. Uko Umo, federal and state legislators, traditional rulers led by the Paramount Ruler of Etinan, HRM Nsobom Aniefiok Monday Akpanobong, corporate bodies, alumni, and prominent individuals will grace the occasion.
The International President, Rev. Effretuei reaffirmed the alumni’s commitment to shaping Etinan Institute’s history.
“We are proud of what we have achieved, and together, we will chart a stronger, brighter future for our beloved alma mater”, calling on all stakeholders to support the rebuilding initiative as Etinan Institute celebrates 110 years of excellence, resilience and impact.
