The Akwa Ibom Christmas Village was transformed into a vibrant hub of colour, rhythm and tradition as Mkpat Enin Local Government Area took centre stage during its Cultural Day celebration at Akwa Ibom Christmas Unplugged 2025 on Thursday December 18, 2025.
Designated as one of the highlights of Plug 03, the Mkpat Enin Cultural Day drew a large turnout of sons and daughters of the area, cultural enthusiasts, tourists and fun seekers from within and outside the state.
From the early hours of the day, the village buzzed with excitement as troupes, community groups and visitors thronged the arena in anticipation of a rich cultural showcase.
The celebration featured a captivating display of traditional dances, indigenous music, folklore performances and colourful regalia that vividly reflected the history, values and identity of the Mkpat Enin people.
Cultural dancers thrilled the audience with energetic steps, while drummers and local musicians set the tone with ancestral rhythms that echoed across the Christmas Village.

Exhibition stands highlighting local crafts, farm produce, cuisines and historical narratives of Mkpat Enin were also a major attraction; giving visitors deeper insight into the area’s agrarian strength, entrepreneurial spirit and cultural resilience.
Traditional delicacies and locally made items further underscored the economic and tourism potential of the local government.

Community leaders, women associations and youth groups used the platform to showcase the progress recorded in the area, while calling for sustained unity, peace and development.
They described the Cultural Day as a rallying point for strengthening communal bonds and fostering a shared vision for growth.

Beyond the cultural displays, the event served as a reunion ground, reconnecting families, friends and indigenes who had travelled from far and near to celebrate Christmas and rediscover their roots in a festive and serene environment.
Stakeholders at the event commended the Akwa Ibom State Government for sustaining the Christmas Unplugged initiative, describing it as an inclusive platform that gives all local government areas the opportunity to project their culture, achievements and tourism assets to a broader audience.

They noted that Mkpat Enin Cultural Day was not just a celebration of heritage but also a strategic avenue for promoting peace, cultural tourism and local economic activities.
As night fell and the Christmas lights shimmered across the village, the fusion of culture and yuletide festivities reaffirmed Mkpat Enin’s place in Akwa Ibom State’s rich and diverse cultural landscape.

The celebration left attendees with lasting memories, renewed pride in their heritage and optimism for a more prosperous and united future.
Mrs. Mbosowo Frank Okon Eshiet, who arrived from the States just to participate in this year’s Akwa Ibom Christmas 2025 Unplugged, reeled her experience and promised to invite more Americans friends, who are enthusiastic about the rich African cultures to another round of Akwa Ibom Christmas Cultural Day in December 2026.
