Gov. Eno Urges Sustained Prayers, Civic Responsibility as Akwa Ibom Pursues Peace and Development
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has called on citizens to sustain prayers for peace, unity and continuous development, while charging leaders, clergy and the general public to discharge their civic responsibilities with sincerity, restraint and patriotism.
The Governor made the plea on Saturday, January 17, 2026, during Government House Prayer Service, tagged, “Limitless Possibilities With God”.
He commended men who support their wives and encourage women to thrive in their careers and endeavours, noting that such partnerships strengthen families and the society at large.
Governor Eno urged continued prayers for the peace currently enjoyed in the State and for the success of ongoing and planned development projects.
He disclosed that the administration has about 60 priority projects in progress, alongside over 1,300 kilometres of roads either completed or currently under construction across the State.
He therefore encouraged men of God to go beyond praying by also visiting project sites to intercede for their timely and successful completion.
The Governor also sought prayers for the full realisation of Akwa Ibom’s international airport status, explaining that critical benchmarks must be met to enable the State capture a significant share of the aviation market within the Gulf of Guinea.
On civic engagement, Governor Eno charged political and community leaders to return to their local government areas to mobilise eligible citizens for voter and party registration into the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He appealed to pastors to enlighten their congregations on the importance of fulfilling this civic duty and cautioned citizens to exercise restraint in their utterances, especially disparaging comments about government, stressing that unity, responsible engagement and constructive dialogue remain vital for collective progress.
Emphasising the need for deeper spiritual support, the Governor announced a special prayer night scheduled for Friday, January 30, 2026 to intercede more fervently for the State.
