Senator Ekong Sampson representing Akwa Ibom South (Eket) Senatorial District in the National Assembly has applauded Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for the award and commencement of work on Ibekwe Akpanya–Ikot Unya–Ikot Eda–Iffe –Ekpuk Town Road, describing it as a transformative intervention for communities in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area.

Speaking during an inspection visit to the project site on Tuesday, Senator Sampson commended Governor Eno’s unwavering commitment to infrastructure development and rural connectivity, noting that the project would significantly improve access and stimulate economic activities in the area.

He particularly lauded the choice of contractor, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, citing the firm’s reputation for delivering high-quality and durable infrastructure.

“I sincerely thank the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency Pastor Umo Eno, for constructing this road. This project is a gift to the people of Ikpa Ikono, Ibiaku Clans, and Mkpat Enin in general.

“For many years, our people yearned and prayed for this development, and today, those prayers have been answered,” Sampson stated.

Highlighting the socio-economic impact of the project, the lawmaker noted that the road would address longstanding infrastructural challenges, while opening up new opportunities for trade, commerce, education, and mobility.

“With our growing population, schools, and markets, this project will unlock immense socio-economic opportunities for our people,” he added.

The Senator also expressed confidence in the contractor’s capacity to deliver, urging the firm to maintain its standards, while calling on host communities to cooperate fully to ensure timely completion.

“I came here to see things for myself, and I am impressed with the level of work so far,” he noted.

Senator Sampson was accompanied on the inspection by members of his political team, including his Campaign Spokesperson, Hon. Nkeruwem James; Prof. Peter Esuh; Rt. Hon. Barr. Ini Ikot; Rt. Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh; and the Director General of his campaign, Sir Michael Essang.

In his remarks, the village head of Ibekwe Akpanya, Eteidung Boniface Ekanem, commended the strong collaboration between Senator Sampson and Governor Eno, noting that their synergy continues to deliver tangible development projects to Mkpat Enin and its surrounding communities.
