Police in Akwa Ibom have arrested a notorious kidnapper and cultist in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, who had long been on the wanted list a long time ago.

The suspect, identified as Ubong Michael, popularly known as “Ubong Boy,” was apprehended on April 22, 2026, around 5:00 p.m. at Ikot Aka Village, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area in an intelligence-led operation by police operatives.

It was gathered that, the 30-Year-old suspect had been hiding in Port Harcourt after he commented a heneous crime but, was tracked and arrested through credible intelligence while secretly returning to his community.

Preliminary investigations also linked the suspect to multiple high-profile kidnapping operations in the state, including the abduction of victims identified as Gabriel in 2023 and John in 2025.

The police during on the spot search uncovered items including a human skull, human bone, two live cartridges, and dagger.

The suspect, during interrogation confessed to crimes and is currently assisting investigators with vital information uncover other weapons and tracking down fleeing members of the syndicate.

The Commissioner of Police, Baba Azare, commended the police crack team for their prompt response, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to eliminating criminals across the state.

The CP however, warned criminal elements to repent from criminal activities or face the full weight of the law, stressing that Akwa Ibom will remain a hostile environment for criminals.

He also called on residents of the state to be vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to the police.
