The Minister of Defence, Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd.), has commended Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, for what he described as purposeful and impactful leadership in the state.

Speaking during a courtesy visit at Government House, Uyo, the Minister noted that his drive across the state revealed a unique ambience marked by good road networks and visible signs of effective governance.

He added that his consistent viewership of the ARISE programmes on television further reflects a government committed to the welfare of its people.

“My prayer is that others will watch and see what has been done, and know that these things are possible; it is not rocket science,” he stated.

General Musa, who was in the state to deliver the convocation lecture at Akwa Ibom State University’s combined convocation ceremony, expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded him and praised the governor’s strides in governance.

He attributed the prevailing peace in the state to the people’s sense of inclusion and care, while expressing hope that Nigeria, particularly the northern region, would regain lasting peace.

On national security, the Minister commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his efforts, noting that security management requires both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches.

He explained that while kinetic measures involve the use of force, non-kinetic strategies, such as good governance, remain critical, pointing to Akwa Ibom as a model.

He urged citizens to collaborate with security agencies by providing timely information on suspicious activities, stressing that security is a collective responsibility.

The Minister also lauded Governor Eno for his support to the 2 Brigade of the Nigerian Army and other security formations, assuring of continued commitment by security agencies to safeguard the nation.

In his response, Governor Eno thanked the Minister for delivering the convocation lecture and congratulated him on his appointment, describing him as one of the nation’s most admired military leaders.

The governor condoled with the Minister over the loss of military personnel in parts of the country and appealed for increased support to security formations in the state to further strengthen stability.

He reaffirmed that the peace enjoyed in Akwa Ibom is a product of strong collaboration among security agencies and pledged sustained government support to enhance their operations.

Top government officials present at the meeting included; the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakeneyi; Head of Service, Mrs. Elsie Peters; Executive Assistant/Chief Delivery Advisor, Mr. Aniefiok Johnson; and members of the State Executive Council. Members of the Minister’s entourage also accompanied him on the visit.
