Akpabio leads Tinubu’s delegation to Vatican for Pope Francis’ burial

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sent a high-powered delegation to Vatican City to attend the burial of Pope Francis on Saturday, April 26. The delegation, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, includes the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, and several prominent archbishops.

The delegation will deliver a letter conveying President Tinubu’s sympathy and condolences to the Acting Head of the Vatican. President Tinubu had previously joined Catholics and Christians worldwide to mourn Pope Francis’s death, describing him as a humble servant of God and a champion of the poor.

Pope Francis passed away on April 21 at the age of 88, just a day after appearing for Easter Sunday celebrations at the Vatican.
