UYO – Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has expressed appreciation to members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the confidence reposed in him, following his emergence as the sole candidate of the party for the 2027 general elections.
Governor Eno, who spoke at a thanksgiving service in Uyo to celebrate the promotion of his son-in-law, Edidiog Ufot, to the rank of Flight Captain, described his endorsement as more than a political triumph, saying it symbolised a rare vote of confidence and a renewed call to selfless service to the people of Akwa Ibom State.
The Governor assured the people that his administration would continue to serve the state with sincerity, dedication and commitment, stressing that the trust placed in him would further strengthen his resolve to deliver democratic dividends to the state.
He said, although his administration has made appreciable progress, several communities still require critical infrastructure and social interventions, adding that government was already reviewing and strengthening the ‘ARISE’ agenda to address identified gaps and improve service delivery.
“We remain committed to the development of Akwa Ibom State. The endorsement is a call to greater responsibility, and we will continue to work tirelessly for the peace, unity and prosperity of our people,” he said.
Governor Eno also commended APC members for supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the party primaries, noting that, the President had remained faithful to promises made to Akwa Ibom State especially, the Ibom Deep Seaport project.
He disclosed that the recent listing of the Ibom Deep Seaport for priority attention by the Federal Government had revived investor confidence, with some investors who previously withdrew from the project now indicating renewed interest.
The Governor therefore, urged citizens of the state to continue supporting President Tinubu and the Renewed Hope agenda in order for Akwa Ibom to benefit more from federal government projects and interventions.
On the forthcoming 2027 elections, Governor Eno called on political parties and candidates across party lines to conduct issue – based campaigns and development-focused, rather than personal attacks and political bitterness.
He cautioned against campaigns of calumny, name-calling and divisive politics, urging politicians to maintain decorum and offer practical solutions to the challenges confronting the people.
The Governor also appreciated guests who attended the thanksgiving service in honour of Captain Edidiog Ufot, whom he described as not just a son-in-law but a beloved son.
He prayed for God’s continued guidance, protection and elevation upon the celebrant as he advances in his aviation career.
Earlier in his remarks, Captain Ufot thanked Governor Umo Eno and late wife, Patience, for their wise counsels and encouragement over the years, noting that, their guidance and mentoring played significant role in his professional growth and attainment of the rank of Flight Captain.
