UYO – A multidisciplinary team of students drawn from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Lagos State University (LASU), and Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) has emerged winner of the All On @10 Hackathon, clinching the top prize with an innovative clean-energy solution known as “ColdLink.”
The victorious team, Current Creators, impressed judges with a concept designed to transform renewable-powered cold-chain logistics through digital innovation.
Their solution, ColdLink, is an integrated platform that combines real-time monitoring, predictive analytics, fleet management, and energy performance tracking to improve the efficiency and sustainability of cold-chain operations.
According to the organisers, the solution demonstrated strong potential to reduce post-harvest losses, enhance food preservation systems, and improve the long-term viability of clean energy-powered infrastructure across Nigeria.
Speaking at the event, Chief Executive Officer of All On, Caroline Eboumbou said, the hackathon was conceived to provide young innovators with opportunities to develop practical solutions capable of advancing Nigeria’s clean energy transition.
“For the past ten years, All On has invested in people, businesses and partnerships that are expanding access to clean energy across Nigeria.
“The All On @10 Hackathon builds on that commitment by giving young innovators the opportunity to develop practical solutions that will help shape the future of our energy sector,” she said.
Eboumbou explained that, participants were grouped into six multidisciplinary teams, bringing together diverse talents and perspectives to tackle pressing challenges in healthcare, education, agriculture, fisheries, cold-chain logistics and productive energy use.
She noted that contestants were challenged to develop solutions that were technically sound, commercially viable, financially sustainable, digitally enabled and capable of delivering measurable social impact.
Providing further insight into the organisation’s mission, the All On CEO explained that, the company was established with support from Shell to accelerate the growth of Nigeria’s off-grid energy market and expand access to affordable, reliable and sustainable electricity for underserved households and small businesses.
She added that All On supports renewable energy enterprises through debt and equity financing as well as non-financial assistance aimed at closing Nigeria’s energy access gap.
Entries in the competition were evaluated by a panel of experts comprising Bolanle Adesan, Senior Consultant at SFM Limited; Dr. James Ogunleye, Project Developer at Carbon Limits Nigeria; Henry Bassey, CEO and Founder of Green Hub Africa; and Babajide Sokeye, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Associate at All On.
The judges assessed submissions based on innovation, technical feasibility, commercial viability, scalability and potential social impact, ultimately selecting ColdLink as the standout solution in the anniversary hackathon.
The competition formed part of activities marking All On’s 10th anniversary, celebrating a decade of supporting renewable energy development and innovation in Nigeria.
