BAYERN STAR COLLAPSES IN MUNICH HEAT, NEW BOY SAIBARI COMES TO THE RESCUE

It was a moment of panic at the Allianz Arena on Saturday as Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala collapsed on the pitch during their Telekom Cup final against RB Leipzig, with sweltering 33°C heat blamed for the scare.

The Germany international, 23, had just scored Bayern’s third goal in a 3-1 win, an assist from summer signing Ismael Saibari. But barely two minutes later, Musiala was seen looking woozy and disorientated while waiting for play to restart.

Before he could hit the ground, Saibari sprinted across and caught his teammate, helping him down gently to the grass. Captain Joshua Kimmich also rushed in as Bayern’s medical team ran to the scene.

For several minutes, the crowd watched nervously as Musiala lay still receiving treatment. Relief swept the stadium when medics gave the thumbs up. He was later helped to the touchline to a standing ovation and chants of his name.Bayern later confirmed the midfielder was fine and the incident was not serious.

Saibari’s instant impact goes beyond football

The quick reaction has earned praise for Moroccan midfielder Ismael Saibari, who only joined Bayern this summer. Having set up Musiala’s goal, he was first to notice his teammate struggling and acted immediately.

Fans and pundits have hailed the 24-year-old not just for his quality on the ball, but for showing the kind of character and awareness that defines a true team player.

The incident was one of four Bayern injury concerns on the day, with Konrad Laimer, Kim Min-jae and Sacha Boey also forced off.

Musiala’s collapse brought back memories of his horror leg break in pre-season last year that kept him out for over six months. Bayern will be hoping this heat-related scare is nothing more than a warning as they prepare for the new Bundesliga season. Bayern went on to lift the Telekom Cup with the 3-1 victory over Leipzig.
