GOV ENO CONSOLES WITH FAMILY Of LATE CORPS MEMBER, ASSURES GOVT SUPPORT

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has commiserated with the family of the late National Youth Service Corps member and former President of the Students Union Government of Akwa Ibom State University, Comrade Etimbuk Daniel.

Governor Eno registered his heartfelt condolences on Saturday, October 17, 2026, when he personally paid a condolence visit to the bereaved family at their country home in Ikot Etim, Ukanafun Local Government Area of the state.

The Governor, who was accompanied by top government officials, said he decided to personally visit the family to let them know that they are not alone in this moment of deep sorrow and painful bereavement.

It will be recalled that the Governor had earlier on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, dispatched a high-powered delegation of government officials to commiserate with the family over the tragic loss of their son.

Governor Eno explained that although he had already sent a delegation, he still considered it necessary and expedient to personally visit the family in order to show solidarity and to share in their grief as a father and leader of the state.

Addressing the family members who were visibly distraught, the Governor expressed deep sadness over the unfortunate incident, describing the death of the young graduate as a painful loss not only to his immediate family but to the entire state.

He disclosed that he had met with the late Etimbuk Daniel on a few occasions before his demise and could attest to his brilliance, intelligence, and promising leadership qualities, which endeared him to many people.

According to the Governor, the late Etimbuk was a vibrant and promising youth who distinguished himself during his days as Students Union President of Akwa Ibom State University and had great prospects for the future.

Governor Eno stated that his visit was primarily to console and comfort the bereaved family, noting that although human words may not be enough to heal their pain, the presence of government shows that the state shares in their sorrow.

He said that true and lasting comfort and consolation can only come from God Almighty, who is the Creator of mankind and the ultimate source of strength in times of affliction.

Speaking further, the Governor said, “We are here to see you and console you, hoping this could help to comfort you. There is nothing anyone can say or do to comfort you at this time. Only God can console you, for He is the ultimate Comforter.”

He assured the family that the government and people of Akwa Ibom State are deeply heartbroken over the untimely death of their son and stand solidly with them in this trying period.

Governor Eno added, “We are here as government. The whole State is heartbroken. The State stands with you and mourns with you. Whatever we can do to ameliorate the pains, we will do it. On behalf of the government and people of Akwa Ibom State, we urge you to be strong in the Lord.”

The Governor further assured the family that the state government will not abandon them but will continue to provide the necessary support to help cushion the effect of the painful loss.

He noted that the late Etimbuk Daniel was not just an ordinary citizen but a former student leader who served his fellow students diligently and brought honour to the state through his service.

Governor Eno also prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed corps member and asked God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

He urged the family to take solace in the fact that their son lived an impactful life and left behind a legacy of service, courage, and commitment to the welfare of others.

Responding on behalf of the family, the father of the deceased, Mr. Daniel Sunday, expressed profound gratitude to the Governor for his compassionate disposition and fatherly love.

Mr. Sunday described Governor Umo Eno as a true father and a compassionate leader who has shown that he genuinely cares for the welfare of his people, even in moments of personal grief.

He said that after receiving a powerful delegation of government officials earlier in the week who came to commiserate with them, the family never expected that the Governor would still find time to personally visit them.

According to him, the personal visit of the Governor to their humble home in Ikot Etim has brought them great comfort and has shown that the government truly identifies with the people at the grassroots.

He thanked the Governor for his kindness and for standing by the family since the news of their son’s death broke, noting that such gesture will never be forgotten.

Mr. Sunday also prayed for God’s continuous guidance and protection for the Governor and his administration, as he continues to lead the state with compassion and sincerity.

Other members of the family and community leaders present at the visit also took turns to appreciate the Governor for his show of love and to describe the late Etimbuk as a respectful, humble, and promising young man.

They lamented that his death has created a huge vacuum in the family and the community, but said they are consoled by the fact that the state government has identified with them.

The condolence visit, which was marked by emotions and tears, ended with prayers for the bereaved family and for the peaceful repose of the soul of the late Comrade Etimbuk Daniel, who died while serving his fatherland.

Many residents of Ukanafun Local Government Area who gathered at the family compound also commended Governor Umo Eno for his people-oriented leadership style and for demonstrating that he is a leader who feels the pains of his people.
