Again, Police operatives in Akwa Ibom have intensified its clampdown on illicit drug activities leading to the arrest of four suspects in Uyo metropolis.
Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the Command carried out coordinated raids on identified drug black spots across the metropolis at about 10:00 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025 resulting in the arrest of four male suspects.
The suspects identified as; Gideon Patrick Edet, Paul Joseph Effiong, Mfon Cletus Ikpe and Gideon Edet Etim during the raid, a large quantity of suspected illicit drugs, including substances believed to be Indian hemp was recovered.
Spokesperson of the Police Command, DSP Timfon John has assured the public that, investigations are ongoing to uncover the drug ring behind the illicit trade.
She reiterated the commitment of the Command to rid the State of criminal elements.
