As Christians across the globe mark the beginning of Lent with Ash Wednesday, the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has called on the faithful in Nigeria to embrace this sacred period as a time for prayer, humility, and sober reflection.

In a heartfelt statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio urged Christians to reflect on their mortality and renew their commitment to living lives of humility and repentance.

“Let us remember that as we dust ourselves with ashes, we are reminded of our mortality and the need for humility and repentance,” Akpabio said. “May this season be a time for introspection, forgiveness, and reconciliation, strengthening our bond with God and with one another.”

The Senate President also emphasized the role of lawmakers in fostering unity and peace in the country, promising that the National Assembly will continue to enact laws that promote harmony among Nigerians.

“On our part as legislators, we will continue to make laws that would promote unity, peace, and understanding among all Nigerians,” Akpabio assured.
