AKSG Revokes Land Allocations, Redeploys Commissioners, Sacks Aide

In a sweeping move to restore sanity in land matters, Akwa Ibom State Government has revoked all land allocations made between May 29, 2023, and August 25, 2025, as part of reforms to sanitize land administration and migrate to the Akwa-GIS digital platform.

A statement from the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prince Enobong Uwah, said the revocation covers all government acquired lands, and allocations within the period.

The government also announced a one-month suspension of fresh land allocations and transactions while the Directorate of Lands remains closed.

The revalidation process, which will last two months, will be conducted by the GIS office in the Ministry of Lands and Town Planning.

The State government also warned that, any land not revalidated within the period would be deemed invalid.

In a related development, Governor Umo Eno has approved a minor reshuffle in the State Executive Council.

In the minor shakeup on Monday, Dr. Ubong Inyang, formerly Commissioner for Trade and Investment, has been redeployed to head the Ministry of Lands and Town Planning, while Capt. Iniobong Ekong (Rtd), who previously held the Lands portfolio, is now Commissioner for Trade and Investment.

The Governor also relieved his Senior Special Assistant on Land Matters, ESV. Udeme Daniel Isa of his appointment with immediate effect.

The government commended him for his service and directed him to hand over to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands.
