The Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) Alumni Association, Lagos Branch, has unveiled its 2026 Monthly Webinar Series.

The Webinar Series, is a forward-looking knowledge and engagement platform designed to deepen alumni involvement in national development and strengthen university–industry collaboration.

The series, which kicked off yesterday Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm via Google Meet, began with a high-impact session themed, “Alumni Strategic Partnership in Driving University Development and Industries Collaboration” with Prof. Hilary Inyang as maiden Guest Speaker.

Prof. Hilary Inyang, who is also a globally respected researcher and educator said, the initiative was aimed at repositioning Alumni as active development partners rather than passive supporters of their Alma Mater.

According to him, “Universities cannot thrive in isolation. Sustainable development today demands deliberate collaboration between Alumni, industry leaders, researchers, and policymakers”.

He said, the platform provides a strategic bridge that connects knowledge, innovation, and economic growth, nothing that Alumni, as products of the system, are uniquely positioned to mobilize resources, influence policy, and create partnerships that accelerate institutional growth and national development.

The webinar featured seasoned professionals and thought leaders, who shared practical insights on growth, innovation, and community impact, while also fostering a culture of continuous learning and networking among AKSU graduates across Nigeria and the diaspora.

The maiden session anchored by a leadership team of the AKSU Alumni Association, Lagos Branch, included;

Comrade (Engr.) Uwakmfon Michael, National President, AKSU Alumni Association as Chief Host;

Comrade (Deacon) Kufre-Abasi Akpanikot, Lagos Branch Chairman – Host and Comrade Michael Mbet, Lagos Branch Secretary as Lead Moderator.

The Guest Speaker, Prof. Inyang further described the Monthly Webinar Series as a “Knowledge Hub” that would empower members to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the university, support innovation, and promote industrial partnerships capable of creating jobs and driving economic progress.

He called on Alumni, professionals, and stakeholders to always participate actively in the programme, stressing that, the success of higher institutions depends largely on the strength of their Alumni networks.

“This is more than a webinar; it is a movement to reconnect, rebuild, and reimagine the future of our university and our society,” Prof. Inyang added.

The organizers said, the series would be sustained throughout 2026, with diverse themes center on leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship, governance, and community development.
