Akwa Ibom State government has recorded a total revenue inflow of ₦1.27 trillion between January and September 2025, according to the state’s Third Quarter Budget Implementation Report.Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Linus Nkan disclosed this at the quarterly budget briefing with journalists in Uyo recently.
The report he said, shows that the inflows comprised ₦818.1 billion from the Federation Account, ₦375.69 billion carried over from 2024, and ₦79.05 billion in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), the highest IGR figure in the state’s history.Total expenditure within the period amounted to ₦830.2 billion, broken down as follows; ₦103.15 billion on personnel costs (including pensions and gratuities),₦128.08 billion on other recurrent expenses, and ₦598.98 billion on capital projects.This leaves a balance of ₦369.8 billion for implementation in the final quarter of the year.
Dr. Nkan, described the 86.9 percent budget performance as “impressive,” attributing it to prudent fiscal management and efficient resource utilization.He noted that the state’s 2025 budget had recently been expanded to ₦1.65 trillion following a supplementary appropriation bill signed by Governor Umo Eno on October 8, 2025.Analyst said, the state government has achieved 86.9 percent budget performance, expands 2025 appropriation to ₦1.65 Trillion.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Aniekan Umanah, who was represented by his Permanent Secretary, Akparawa James Edet, commended the sustained quarterly budget briefings, describing them as a mark of transparency, accountability, and responsible governance.
