FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has claimed credit for making the Peoples Democratic Party a major political force at both national and state levels. Speaking at a media chat in Abuja, Wike responded to criticisms from PDP Board of Trustees member Chief Bode George over the sealing of the party’s National Secretariat.
Wike advised George to “sit down in your house and read your newspapers” if he had no occupation, emphasizing that neither he nor the party could pay the ground rent because the property was not registered in their names. Wike noted that while the PDP had given him a national profile, it was individuals like him who made the party win elections.
He questioned the PDP’s popularity in Lagos since 1999 and highlighted his own contributions to the party’s success, stating that he had laboured and campaigned for the party to become a major force. Wike also referenced the party’s struggles in George’s state and its efforts to take over power during Jonathan’s presidency.
