Police deny arrest of social media influencer in A’Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has denied detaining Blossom Williams, a social media influencer and mother of three. According to the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, “We are not aware of such detention for now.” This statement comes after reports emerged that Williams was arrested by police operatives on her way to a medical appointment, allegedly at the instance of Daniel Eyakenyi, the state Deputy Governor’s son.

Williams’ family members claim that her arrest is politically driven, citing her vocal advocacy for good governance and the rights of marginalized communities in Oro Nation as the likely motive. A source close to Williams’ family described the detention as not only politically motivated but also an abuse of power, adding that the social media influencer, who is currently pregnant, was forcefully taken into custody on her way to the hospital.

The police denial has sparked public outcry, with growing demands for Williams’ immediate release and a transparent investigation into the incident. The case continues to generate attention, with many awaiting further developments.
