Power Tussle Splits Kebbi ADC as Sule-Iko Suspended

Party accuses embattled Leader of Self-acclamation, Reaffirms Bala as Legitimate Chairman

Fresh leadership crisis has hit the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State, following the suspension of Sule-Iko Sadeeq for allegedly declaring himself chairman of the party without due process.

In a statement issued Sunday in Birnin Kebbi, the State Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Atiku-Musa, announced that Sadeeq’s suspension takes immediate effect.

Atiku-Musa explained that the decision was reached after due consultation and in line with the ADC constitution, as well as directives from the National Working Committee (NWC).

“The NWC has resolved that all state chairmen should retain their positions until the completion of their tenure, which expires in May 2026,” the statement read.

The party further noted that the coalition leadership was unaware of Sadeeq’s alleged unilateral assumption of office and described his action as “unauthorised and misleading.”

Reaffirming the leadership structure, the statement declared Sufiyanu Bala as the constitutionally recognised and duly elected chairman of the ADC in Kebbi State.

The party also urged security agencies to take necessary measures to stop Sadeeq from parading himself as chairman or participating in party activities under that claim.
