Rivers Sole Administrator, Ibas presents 1.48 trillion Naira 2025 Budget

Rivers State Sole Administrator, Mr. Ibok-Ete Ibas, presented the proposed ₦1.48 trillion 2025 budget to the House of Representatives, outlining a bold fiscal framework for infrastructure restoration, social service improvement, and inclusive development. Despite challenges, including withheld information from suspended state officials, Ibas expressed gratitude to the committee for their dedication.

The budget reflects strategic priorities aligned with the Rivers State Development Plan 2017-2027 and allocates significant funds to sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, and social welfare. Ibas emphasized transparency and alignment with national appropriation standards, while also highlighting funding opportunities for citizens with innovative ideas.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Rivers State oversight, Hon. Julius Ihonvbere, commended Ibas for the detailed presentation and affirmed the committee’s commitment to partnering with the administrator to restore peace and development to Rivers State. Ihonvbere emphasized proper scrutiny of the budget and noted key social welfare components, including women’s empowerment and pensions for retirees. The committee will conduct further budget defense sessions to ensure fiscal discipline and accountability.
