Senator Ekong Sampson: Galvanizing APC Base in Mkpat Enin

Senator Ekong Sampson, representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, on Monday, October 27, 2025, hosted the Chapter Executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, as part of ongoing strategic consultations aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots base in his home constituency.The meeting, came barely a day after the Senator previously met with Ward Chairmen of the Party at Wartbridge Hotel and Suites in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital to forge a new dawn.

The Chapter Executives were led by the Chapter Chairman, Hon. Utitofon Jeremiah, a long-time associate of Senator Sampson from their days in the local government administration.Senator Sampson, who is also chairing the Senate Committee on Solid Minerals, said the gathering was part of deliberate efforts to consolidate on the party structure in Mkpat Enin and across Akwa Ibom South.He used the occasion to reaffirm his commitment to working with the party from the Wards to Chapters for the growth of the party in general, and to the development of his constituents.

“I joined the APC to contribute meaningfully in building the party and driving development in Mkpat Enin, Akwa Ibom South, and the State at large, and commended APC State Chairman, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, an indigene of Mkpat Enin, the Chapter Chairman and party officers for their steadfastness and towards advancing APC’s fortunes in the State.Senator Sampson however, called on the people to be steadfast in their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno’s actualisation of the Renewed Hope – ARISE Agenda.

He also admonished the party stakeholders saying, “This is the time to build the party, not to worry about the next election or personal gains”.In a symbolic gesture of continuity, Senator Sampson announced plans to provide a befitting Secretariat for the APC in Mkpat Enin, recalling that, during his time in the PDP, he donated a parcel of land and facilitated the construction of befitting PDP Secretariat in the area, and the first local governments in the country to have a standard party office.

He promised to replicate his past efforts in empowering party structures through vehicle donations, appointments, job opportunities for the unemployed and welfare endowments for party executives.

Party Leaders Laud Senator Sampson:

The Chapter Chairman, Hon. Utitofon Jeremiah said, Senator Sampson is “a courageous party man imbued with great intellectual capacity and charisma to make things happen saying, as a detailed politician and great asset to APC, he always stand by his people and the party”.He lauded his developmental records and personal loyalty to the party, noting that Mkpat Enin remains proud of his numerous contributions as former Head of Local Government, Commissioner, Special Adviser and currently, Senator representing Akwa Ibom South in the Senate.

Also, former member of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Engr. Otobong Ndem, lend his voice to the meeting, by commending the party executives for their steadfastness and upholding the principles, reaffirming his confidence in Senator Sampson’s leadership prowess.He called on the people to support him, Governor Umo Eno and other APC leaders, as Mkpat Enin has a “solid political base” to benefit from renewed collaboration.

Finally, it was crystal clear that, the meeting midwifed by Senator Sampson had set a new tone for robust collaboration; as he returned to the grassroots in a symbiotic and calculated moves toward building more cohesive and vibrant APC family in Mkpat Enin and Akwa Ibom South.
