President Bola Tinubu has approved a special promotion for his aide-de-camp (ADC), Colonel Nurudeen Alowonle Yusuf to the rank of Brigadier-General.

The approval was conveyed in a confidential communication addressed to the Chief of Army Staff by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

According to the document, the promotion takes effect from December 12, 2025.

“I wish to convey Mr President’s approval of special presidential promotion of Colonel Nurudeen Alowonle Yusuf to the rank of brigadier-general and retention as ADC C-in-C with effect from 12 December 2025 for your necessary action as enclosed,” the letter read.

The directive also authorises Mr Yusuf’s retention in his role as aide-de-camp to the Commander-in-Chief following the elevation.

Brigadier-General Yusuf has been decorated with new rank and continues to serve as the President’s Aide-De-Camp.
