On Friday, September 5, 2025, the South-South Change Project (SOSOCHAP), the fastest-growing non-governmental organization in the world, held its first national event at Ceedepeg Hotels, Ewet Housing Estate, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital. The ceremony marked a significant milestone for the organization, bringing together delegates from the six South-South states where SOSOCHAP has a presence.

The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including the Paramount Ruler of Uyo, HRM Edidem Sylvanus Okon, who was accompanied by Village Heads of Ikot Ntuen Offot and Ifa Ikot Abia, and the Secretary of Uyo Traditional Rulers’ Council. Other prominent attendees included the Paramount Ruler of Mbo LGA, the P.R.O. of Hi-Tech Construction Company, Barr. Alphonsus Etim, Governing Council Members of Akwa Ibom, Edo, Rivers, and Delta states, State Directors, Akwa Ibom State EXCO Members, SSAs to the Chancellor, and the West African Director of SOSOCHAP, Mr. Othniel Jebs.

The Global Chancellor of SOSOCHAP, Pst. Jossy Ekpe, welcomed delegates and guests to the summit, providing insight into the organization’s vision and mission. The theme for the National Investiture of Governing Council Members was “Empowering the Future through Inventive Leadership and Humanitarian Gestures.” Rt. Hon. Dr. Usoro Akpanusoh, a two-time Member of Parliament who represented Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency, served as Chairman for the occasion and was ably represented by Ms. Caroline Bassey, who delivered a brilliant speech on the theme.

Delegates from Delta, Rivers, Edo, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom states attended the event in person, while Cross River delegates joined virtually due to missing their ferry. The ceremony featured the decoration of National Governing Council Members, State Governing Council Members, and State Directors. The Global Chancellor also presented the SOSOCHAP Academic Catalyst Award to renowned teacher Dr. Aniefiok Iniobong Udo, who was accompanied by her husband, Rev. Dr. Iniobong Udoh, Chairman of Uyo Metropolitan Area Conference of Qua Iboe Church.

The Oath of Office was administered to National Governing Council Members by Hon. Barr. Effiong Abia, Legal Adviser and Member of the Governing Council of Akwa Ibom State. The Chairman of the National Governing Council, Capt. Alfred Timiyan, gave his acceptance speech and promised to lead from the front. The members of the SOSOCHAP National Governing Council are Capt. Alfred Timiyan (Delta State) as Chairman, Hon. (Prince) Effiong Akpan (Akwa Ibom State) as Secretary, Mrs. Ammonia Nwuke (Rivers State) as Financial Secretary, Capt. Martins Omovhide (Edo State) as Treasurer, and Hon. Ita Okokon (Cross River State) as Public Relations Officer.

The SOSOCHAP Organogram comprises the Chancellor, National Governing Council Members, Country Representatives, State Governing Council Members, State Directors, Senior Special Assistants to the Chancellor, Senatorial Coordinators, Local Government Coordinators, and Ward Coordinators. The event concluded with goodwill messages from notable personalities and photograph sessions.
