TARABU, JIGAWA STATE: Tension reached a boiling point in Tarabu village, Kirikasamma Local Government Area, on Wednesday, as irate youths attacked the convoy of Governor Umar Namadi Danmodi during the flag-off ceremony of a 23.4-kilometre road project.

What was meant to be a routine government engagement turned chaotic, as stones were hurled at government vehicles, including those in the governor’s convoy.

Eye witness, who spoke under anonymity said, several cars belonging to top officials and security personnel were damaged in the fracas.

Chairman of Kirikasamma Local Government Council, Alhaji Muhammad Maji and Hon. Abubakar Fulata, Member representing Guri/Kirikasamma/Birniwa Federal Constituency, narrowly escaped physical harm during the incident.

The source told our correspondent that, the outburst was triggered by mounting frustrations among the residents, as they directed their anger at the Federal House Representatives lawmaker from the area, Hon. Fulata.

The youths accused him of abandoning the constituency and failing to deliver tangible developmental projects, in contrast to his counterparts in neighboring areas.

The road project, stretching from Tarabu to Gafta, was part of the administration’s citizen engagement initiative and intended to boost rural connectivity.

Security was swiftly reinforced to restore calm, and no injuries were officially reported at the time of filing this report.

However, the incident underscores growing tensions between elected officials and their constituents over unfulfilled promises and lack of visible development, as some of them play pranks with Federal Constituency allocations to them for development.
