UYO – The Akwa Ibom Community in Adamawa and Taraba States has unanimously endorsed Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for a second term in office, citing his inclusive leadership style, people-oriented governance and unwavering commitment to the welfare of Akwa Ibom people both at home and in the diaspora.
The endorsement was contained in a communiqué issued after a congressional meeting of Akwa Ibom indigenes resident in North-East Nigeria recently, and made available to newsmen in Uyo on Thursday.
The group, comprising Esop Ndito Ibibio, Afe Annang and the Oron Development Union, also endorsed Senate President, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, for another term as Senator representing Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District in 2027, alongside President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in the forthcoming general elections.
In a letter addressed to Governor Eno and signed by the Chairman of Akwa Ibom Community in Adamawa State, Mkpisong Obong Sunday Philip Okon, and Publicity Secretary, Ata-Uko Francis Etuk, the group praised the Governor’s “visionary leadership, all-inclusive democratic governance and commitment to human and community development under the ARISE Agenda.”
The community noted that, Governor Eno’s leadership had continued to resonate beyond the borders of Akwa Ibom State, especially among indigenes residing in different parts of the country.
According to the statement, the endorsement was further inspired by Governor Eno’s “fatherly care and genuine concern for the wellbeing of Akwa Ibom people in the diaspora,” as demonstrated during his interaction with leaders of Akwa Ibom communities in Adamawa and Taraba States at the 44th Anniversary celebration of Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio held at Asan Ibibio on March 8, 2025.
The group described the Governor’s willingness to engage with his people at unexpected moments as a remarkable demonstration of humility and responsive leadership.
“We can never take for granted your humility and readiness to give a listening ear to the yearnings of your people even at unexpected moments,” the statement read.
To consolidate the endorsement, the Akwa Ibom Community in North-East Nigeria disclosed that it had commenced mobilising members of NAAKISS, youths and women groups to transfer their voter registration details to their respective constituencies in Akwa Ibom State ahead of the 2027 elections.
It also revealed that Akwa Ibom indigenes who returned to the state during the Boko Haram insurgency had been sensitised and re-oriented on the group’s political direction for the forthcoming polls.
The community further requested an audience with Governor Eno at his convenience to strengthen collaboration towards advancing the future development of Akwa Ibom State.
Reaffirming its commitment, the group pledged to continue propagating the ideals of the ARISE Agenda across its networks within and outside Akwa Ibom State.
The statement concluded with prayers for divine guidance and strength for the Governor, as he continues to lead the state towards greater prosperity and sustainable development.
