Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has hinted at potentially leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stating it’s time to “progressively move” despite his affection for the party. Speaking at a state banquet marking his second year in office, Eno emphasized unity among the political class and putting Akwa Ibom first.
“I respect our party, the PDP. I love the PDP. But we all know the way things are… It’s time to progressively move,” Eno said, suggesting a possible shift towards a new political direction. While not explicitly naming the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eno’s comments suggest a potential alignment with the party, given his recent collaborations with President Bola Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The Governor assured that his potential party switch wouldn’t affect governance in the state, prioritizing the welfare of Akwa Ibomites regardless of party affiliation. Eno concluded by emphasizing the need for unity in Akwa Ibom, encouraging visitors to shed their party tags and embrace the state’s unity.
