Wike urges Tinubu to release NDDC forensic audit, alleges Amaechi siphoned N4bn monthly
Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to publicly release the forensic audit report of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). Wike made this demand during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today program, alleging that the report contains damaging revelations against former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
Wike claimed that Amaechi siphoned approximately N4 billion monthly from the NDDC through a company linked to his wife, purportedly for training Rivers women. This accusation comes in response to Amaechi’s recent statement describing his wife as a successful businesswoman and “almost an industrialist”.
The FCT Minister also accused former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, of deliberately concealing the forensic audit report to shield Amaechi and others involved in financial mismanagement. Wike emphasized that unless the audit report is released, questions will persist about who benefited from the trillions allocated to the NDDC and why accountability continues to elude the agency.
Wike went further to say that he is willing to resign as FCT Minister if the report is made public and doesn’t indict Amaechi, stating, “If what I’m saying is not in that report, I will resign as FCT Minister. I don’t worship office”.
