APC South-South Stakeholders Unanimously adopt Tinubu and APC govs as Sole Candidates in 2027
The All Progressives Congress (APC) South-South stakeholders’ meeting, held in Benin on July 5, 2025, has passed a series of resolutions, including the unanimous adoption of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
The stakeholders commended President Tinubu for his reforms and policies aimed at repositioning Nigeria, particularly highlighting his support for the South-South region. They also expressed appreciation for the signing into law of the South-South Development Commission Act and the ongoing Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road project.

The meeting passed a vote of confidence in Senator Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate, for his leadership qualities and support for the Renewed Hope Agenda. The stakeholders also welcomed the governors of Delta and Akwa Ibom states for joining the APC and urged the governors of Bayelsa and Rivers states to follow suit.
The APC governors in the South-South region, including Pastor Umo Eno, Senator Bassey Otu, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and Senator Monday Okpebholo, were also given a vote of confidence. The stakeholders commended the party’s leadership in the region, led by Chief Victor Giadom, and recognized the contributions of APC leaders, stakeholders, and political appointees from the South-South region.
The stakeholders unanimously adopted the APC governors in the region as the party’s sole gubernatorial candidates for the 2027 elections, appealing to the electorate to massively vote for them. They also expressed appreciation for the support of elders, party leaders, and stakeholders in the region.
