Police Chief Redeploys 11,566 VIP Orderlies to Bolster Nationwide Security

The Inspector-General of Police has ordered the immediate withdrawal of 11,566 police personnel previously assigned to VIP protection duties, directing their redeployment to frontline policing across the country.

According to the police leadership, the move is part of a renewed national security strategy aimed at strengthening community safety, improving response times, and boosting the visibility of officers in towns and cities.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) said, the restructuring will ensure that more trained and armed personnel are available for core policing functions, particularly as communities continue to face emerging security challenges.

He added that only individuals with legally established security entitlements will retain police protection, while all other officers will be reassigned to operational units to enhance public safety nationwide.
