GOVERNOR ADELEKE WINS OSUN GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION

Governor Ademola Adeleke has been declared winner of the Osun State governorship election. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, announced the results on Saturday night at the collation center in Osogbo, confirming Adeleke’s re-election for a second term.

According to INEC, Adeleke of the Accord Party, AP, polled the highest number of votes 511,067 against APC who recorded 444,815 and AD who came up third with 17,180 votes across the 30 local government areas of the state. He defeated his closest rival from the All Progressives Congress, APC, who trailed behind with a wide margin.

The election was keenly contested and closely watched across Nigeria. Voter turnout was significant in major towns including Osogbo, Ile-Ife, Ilesa, Ede, and Iwo. Security agencies were deployed across polling units to ensure a peaceful process, and voting largely proceeded without major incidents.

Reacting to the victory, Governor Adeleke thanked the people of Osun for their support and trust. He described the win as a victory for democracy and promised to continue his administration’s focus on infrastructure, workers welfare, education, and healthcare. “This mandate belongs to the people of Osun. I will not let you down” he said.

APC leaders in the state have acknowledged the results but said they will review the process. Political analysts say Adeleke’s grassroots appeal and people-oriented programs in his first term played a key role in securing the win. Other party chieftains across the South-West also hailed the result as a boost for the party ahead of 2027.

With this victory, Governor Adeleke is set to serve another four years in office. Expectations are now high among Osun residents who want to see continuity in road projects, salary payments, and youth empowerment programs.
