Gov. Umo Eno hints at defecting to APC

Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has hinted at a possible defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) internal challenges. Speaking at a political gathering, Eno likened the PDP to a plane that has developed a fault, suggesting that it may no longer be able to take him to his desired destination beyond 2027.

Eno’s comments come on the heels of recent high-profile defections from the PDP, including Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborewori, who recently joined the APC. The governor’s remarks have sparked speculation about his future plans, particularly as the 2027 election year approaches.

In a rhetorical question, Eno asked if one wouldn’t consider boarding another available plane to reach their destination if their preferred airline was grounded. This analogy has been interpreted as a veiled indication of his potential switch to the APC.
