ABUJA – All pupils and teachers abducted by gunmen in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State have been reportedly rescued by security agencies.

This according to the information shared by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga a few minutes ago on his X handle formerly Twitter on Friday July 10, 2026.

The successful rescue operation he said, brings an end to weeks of anxiety for families, residents and government officials following the abduction of the victims from schools in the Ahoro-Esiele and Yawota communities of the council area.

The presidential spokesman said, the coordinated operation by security forces led to the safe recovery of all the kidnapped pupils and teachers, who have since been reunited with authorities for necessary medical attention and care.

The development marks a major breakthrough in the ongoing efforts of security agencies to combat kidnapping and violent crimes in the country.

It also follows sustained directives from President Bola Tinubu, who had earlier ordered intensified rescue operations and pledged federal government’s support to secure the victims’ release.

It is gathered, residents of the affected communities welcomed the news with relief, praising the security personnel for their determination and professionalism in ensuring the safe return of the victims.

Government officials and community leaders equally commended the rescue mission, describing it as a significant boost to public confidence in the country’s security architecture and a demonstration of the government’s resolve to protect lives and property.

The abduction, which occurred in May, drew national attention and prompted extensive security operations involving the police, military and other intelligence agencies.

President Tinubu had repeatedly assured the public that every effort would be made to secure the release of the victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.

As of press time, security authorities had yet to release comprehensive details of the operation, including whether any ransom was paid it arrests were made during the rescue mission
