UYO – The Chief Executive Officer of Comfort 95.1 FM, Uyo, Mr. Samuel Eno Akpan, has dismissed recent social media reports alleging misconduct within the organisation, describing them as false, sensational and deliberately crafted to tarnish the reputation of the radio station.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Akpan reaffirmed that Comfort 95.1 FM remains committed to professionalism, ethical broadcasting and editorial independence, insisting that the station has consistently upheld the highest standards of journalism since its establishment.

He stated that the organisation has faithfully discharged all its corporate responsibilities by meeting statutory obligations to staff, stakeholders and relevant regulatory authorities, adding that the station’s operations have always been guided by transparency and accountability.

According to him, Comfort 95.1 FM was founded nine years ago with the vision of providing an independent platform for balanced, factual and fearless journalism, free from political, commercial or external interference.

Akpan stressed that every editorial decision taken by the station is driven solely by professional ethics and the public interest, noting that editorial independence remains essential for sustaining public trust and strengthening democratic accountability.

He explained that the station’s daily operations are managed by the Executive Managing Consultant alongside heads of departments, while the Board of Directors performs only its statutory oversight responsibilities without interfering in editorial or administrative matters.

The CEO also highlighted the station’s achievements, describing Comfort 95.1 FM as the only broadcast organisation in Nigeria associated with a Guinness World Record, following the feat recorded in 2025 by its renowned presenter, George Iniabasi Essien, popularly known as Mighty George.

He added that the station has earned several prestigious awards and recognitions for excellence in broadcasting.

Akpan further clarified that although Distinguished Senator Effiong Bob serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors, he has no role in the station’s day-to-day management or editorial decision-making, contrary to claims circulating on social media.

Appealing to the public, corporate organisations and stakeholders, he urged them not to associate the station with partisan politics, maintaining that Comfort 95.1 FM exists solely to provide objective, balanced and factual information in the interest of the public.

He also noted that the station has maintained cordial relationships with both former and current employees by honouring all legitimate obligations within available resources.

Reaffirming the station’s core values, Akpan said Comfort 95.1 FM will continue to uphold fairness, justice, equity and accuracy in its reportage while giving priority to issues that promote the development of Akwa Ibom State and serve the broader public interest.
