Comfort Emmanson Speaks Out on Ibom Air Incident

Comfort Emmanson has broken her silence, after the viral clash aboard an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos on August 10.

A press release obtained by Uyo Infomedia posted on the social media on her behalf by Ofonime Honesty said, she apologized for her role in the heated exchange over phone use, saying: “If my words or actions contributed to disorder on board, I am sorry.”

But she condemned the way she was handled after being restrained and filmed: “What I cannot accept is the indignity and public shaming that followed.”

The Nigerian Bar Association has already condemned her treatment, while the Federal Government has since withdrawn the case against her.

Initially handed a lifetime “no-fly” ban, Emmanson confirmed that airlines have now lifted the restriction after government review.

She is now calling for among other things; an Independent review of the incident, Clear rules protecting both passenger dignity and air safety, as well as Civility in public discourse adding that, “Safety and human dignity can, and must coexist,” she emphasized.
