Governor Umo Eno Commissions Model Primary School and Council Chairman’s Residence in Eket

In a significant step towards enhancing governance and infrastructure in Akwa Ibom State, Governor Umo Eno has commissioned two key projects in Eket Local Government Area. The projects include a fully furnished official residence for the Council Chairman and a model primary school in Idung Offiong.

The commissioning of these projects underscores the Governor’s commitment to making governance visible and effective at the grassroots level. The official residence for the Council Chairman is the first of its kind to be built in Eket and serves as a prototype for similar projects planned for the remaining 30 Local Government Areas in the state.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Umo Eno reiterated his administration’s promise to build lodges for all 31 Council Chairmen across the state. He expressed delight in fulfilling this promise, starting with Eket, and pledged to replicate the model across the remaining LGAs.

The model primary school in Idung Offiong is a testament to the Governor’s commitment to improving the quality of education in the state. The school’s infrastructure and facilities are designed to provide a conducive learning environment for students, enhancing their academic performance and overall development.

A heartwarming moment during the visit to the model primary school was when a young pupil, leading a welcome song, appealed to the Governor to employ his mother, an NCE holder who was unemployed. Moved by the pupil’s intelligence and boldness, Governor Umo Eno directed the Akwa Ibom State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to immediately employ the mother. This gesture demonstrates the Governor’s commitment to building a future where every Akwa Ibom child has a reason to hope.

Governor Umo Eno’s initiatives aim to create a brighter future for the people of Akwa Ibom State, focusing on education, infrastructure, and employment opportunities. As the state continues to develop, the Governor’s commitment to visible governance and effective service delivery is set to yield positive outcomes for its citizens.

  1. The government of Akwa Ibom is commended for their efforts to showcase two projects as an accomplishment of two years.
Although this is not laudable, having non will be more shameful.
Akwa Ibom is blessed with resources but nothing to show as a revenue generating project. I hope our state major stakeholders will emulate other state and invest in revenue generating projects like manufacturing infrastructure. We appreciate your efforts and will love to see more thinkable projects.
