“I am now the Political Leader of the APC in Akwa Ibom State and automatically the one with the prerogative authority to choose the party’s political leaders at the Chapter” – Gov. Eno
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State has thrown its full support behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno, endorsing them as the party’s sole candidates for the 2027 general elections. This development emerged from a major stakeholders’ meeting held on July 15, 2025, at the Government House in Uyo.
During the meeting, Governor Eno emphasized unity and reconciliation within the party, urging members to put aside past differences and work towards building a cohesive APC in Akwa Ibom.
On the issue of Political Leadership, the Governor, laid to rest the creeping agitation on the matter when he said he is now the Political Leader of the APC in Akwa Ibom State and automatically the one with the prerogative authority to choose the party’s political leaders at the Chapter. He added a caveat, that he will consult widely before appointing political leaders for the party at the Chapter level because he must ensure that the people so appointed are the people he can trust their loyalty to the party and his agenda.
The stakeholders’ meeting drew notable figures, including the Senate President’s wife, Mrs. Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, Deputy Governor, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, and other key party members. They praised Governor Eno’s inclusive leadership style and reaffirmed their loyalty to his administration.
The meeting concluded with a communiqué endorsing President Tinubu, Senate President Akpabio, and Governor Eno for the 2027 elections, commending President Tinubu’s economic reforms and Senate President Akpabio’s contributions to the South-South region. This development signals a new era of unity and renewed political resolve under Governor Eno’s leadership.
