The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has stressed the need for stronger partnerships with stakeholders to accelerate development across the Niger Delta region.
The Commission says sustained stakeholder engagement remains central to its corporate governance framework. It noted that engagement provides an avenue for feedback and helps to align its programmes with the development needs of the region.
The position was highlighted during the 2026 Partners for Sustainable Development Conference in Port Harcourt.The conference was themed “Synergy for Transformation: Aligning Regional Development, Local Governance and Sustainable Partnership in the Niger Delta.”
The event brought together key actors driving development in the region.It had in attendance government officials, members of the National Assembly and other stakeholders.
Participants examined ways of strengthening collaboration for regional growth.They also focused on improving coordination among development agencies and institutions.
The conference also looked at supporting the implementation of the NDDC governance framework and master plan.The NDDC said the forum was part of its commitment to inclusive and participatory development.
It said inputs from stakeholders are critical to delivering impactful projects.The Commission explained that its corporate governance structure prioritises transparency and accountability. regular dialogue with partners helps to build trust and enhance service delivery.
According to the NDDC, the approach ensures that interventions are need-based and people-oriented. It added that it would help to avoid duplication of development projects in the region.

The programme proceeded with a technical session focusing on practical strategies.The session explored ways of promoting synergy among stakeholders.

The NDDC says the stakeholder-driven approach is intended to strengthen accountability. It said the approach will ensure efficiency in project execution.
