JERUSALEM – Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu has paid glowing tribute to the outgoing Mossad Director, David Barnea.

PM Netanyahu, who was speaking at a farewell ceremony marking the end of Barnes’s tenure yesterday (Tuesday), praised the support of the outgoing MOSSAD Chief, also credited the intelligence agency’s leadership and operatives with helping to shape Israel’s security successes amid the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.

He described the Mossad as one of Israel’s greatest national achievements and praised its contributions to the country’s defence and strategic operations.

In an event monitored via CNN in Uyo, South – South Nigeria, the Prime Minister said the intelligence service had played a critical role in confronting threats facing Israel, noting that its personnel continued to make history through their efforts to protect the Jewish state.

“While those who seek Israel’s destruction continue to fail, the men and women defending the Jewish state continue to make history,” Netanyahu said.

Barnea’s departure comes at a time of heightened regional tensions and ongoing military operations involving Israel and several actors across the Middle East.

During Barnes’s tenure, Mossad was said to have been widely associated with intelligence-gathering, covert operations and strategic missions that Israeli officials say strengthened national security and enhanced the country’s ability to respond to emerging threats.

Political observers noted that, the intelligence achievements recorded under Barnea’s leadership have also bolstered Netanyahu’s security credentials, particularly during periods of escalating conflict and regional instability.

The outgoing intelligence chief leaves office after overseeing some of the most consequential years in Israel’s recent security history, with the Mossad remaining a central pillar of the country’s defence and foreign intelligence architecture.

Israeli officials at the ceremony commended Barnea for his service, while reaffirming the agency’s commitment to safeguarding the nation’s interests amid continuing challenges in the region especially, Turkey and Egypt as the next Iran or countries of particular concerns.
