ABUJA – The Nigeria Police Force has appointed Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Iniedu Okokon as its new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ushering in a new era in the management of the Force’s public communication and media relations.

CSP Okokon, an indigene of Akwa Ibom State, succeeds Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who has served as the face and chief spokesman of the Nigeria Police Force in recent years.

The appointment, announced by the police authorities, is part of ongoing efforts by the Force leadership to strengthen public engagement, enhance transparency and deepen citizens’ confidence in policing activities across the country.

Before his latest appointment, CSP Okokon served in several strategic positions within the Nigeria Police Force, earning recognition for his professionalism, communication skills and operational experience.

He also worked as the Staff Officer to the Force Public Relations Department at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, and has held various operational and administrative assignments during his policing career.

A member of several professional bodies and a trained communication officer, Okokon is expected to leverage his wealth of experience in strategic communications, crisis management and public relations to strengthen the image of the Force.

Security analysts say his appointment comes at a critical time when the Nigeria Police is seeking to improve its relationship with citizens through proactive information management, digital engagement and community-oriented policing.

The new Force spokesman is expected to officially assume responsibilities immediately, overseeing media relations, public information dissemination and strategic communication for the nation’s foremost law enforcement agency.

His emergence has attracted widespread commendation, particularly from colleagues and stakeholders in Akwa Ibom State, who described the appointment as a recognition of competence, dedication and years of meritorious service in the Nigeria Police Force.
