MKPAT ENIN – The Executive Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, Engr. Emmanuel Inyang, has lauded the Rotary Club of Uyo Metropolis and Premier Medical Services for selecting the council as one of the beneficiaries of the Maternal and Child Health Project 10/10 2.0, describing the intervention as a significant step towards improving healthcare delivery in the area.
Speaking while receiving the delegation at the Primary Health Centre, Mkpat Enin, the Chairman said the donation was a timely intervention that would strengthen maternal and child healthcare services across the Local Government Area.
Hon. Inyang noted that the gesture aligns with his administration’s commitment to revitalising the health sector, particularly through improved maternal and child healthcare services.
He assured the donors that the medical equipment would be judiciously utilised to enhance service delivery, while reaffirming the readiness of the Local Government to collaborate with organisations whose programmes are geared towards improving the wellbeing of residents.
The Chairman further commended the Rotary Club and its development partners for their sustained humanitarian services and urged them to continue extending similar interventions to vulnerable communities.
Earlier, the Star President of the Rotary Club of Uyo Metropolis, Rotarian Kalu Sylvester, explained that the Maternal and Child Health Project 10/10 2.0 was designed to extend life-saving healthcare interventions to all the 31 Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State through a phased implementation.
He disclosed that the initiative is being executed in collaboration with Premier Medical Services to support efforts aimed at reducing maternal and infant mortality across the state.
Also speaking, Ms. Mbo Effiong, who represented Prof. Nsikak Udokang of Premier Medical Services, said the project seeks to improve access to quality maternal and child healthcare through the provision of essential medical equipment and supplies.
She commended the Executive Chairman for prioritising healthcare development in Mkpat Enin and expressed confidence that the donated items would make a positive impact on healthcare delivery.
Among the items presented to the Primary Health Centre were; sphygmomanometer, fetal Doppler, delivery set, digital thermometers, pedal suction machine, stethoscopes, weighing scale, mesh nebulizers, paediatric and adult Ambu bags, sanitary materials, as well as other essential medical supplies.
The ceremony climaxed with the decoration of Hon. Emmanuel Inyang with the Rotary Lapel Pin in recognition of his support for Rotary’s humanitarian programmes and commitment to community development.
