UYO – Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to opening up rural communities through strategic road infrastructure aimed at boosting economic activities and improving the living conditions of residents across the state.

Speaking with journalists at Government House, Uyo shortly after inspecting ongoing projects in Nsit Ubium and Eket Local Government Areas, Governor Eno said his administration would continue to prioritize people-oriented projects in line with the ‘ARISE’ Agenda to stimulate growth, enhance rural connectivity, and ease the movement of goods and services.

The Governor, who also appreciated the people of the state for nominating him as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general elections, assured that the welfare and economic advancement of the people would remain central to his development agenda.

“I’m very interested in opening up rural communities because accessibility to markets, schools and farms is very necessary for the rapid economic growth of our people and our state.

“As we open up the rural communities, we are helping the movement of goods to the cities and contributing to lowering the prices of goods and farm produce,” the Governor stated.

He expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work at the various project sites visited, and charged contractors handling the projects to sustain the momentum and adhere strictly to agreed delivery timelines.

Providing details on the ongoing Nsit Ubium–Eket Road project, the Commissioner for Works, Prof. Eno Ibanga, disclosed that the road is a 2.4-kilometre dual carriageway with a 120-metre bridge designed to provide access to communities along the corridor.

The Governor also inspected the ongoing 2.4 KM Ofriyo Road with a 120-metre span bridge linking Nsit Ubium and Eket Local Government Areas, General Hospital and Model Primary School in Nsit Ubium, as well as the dualisation of 11.6km Ikot Imoh–Strabag Junction–Eket Road.
